GS Annual Store Manager Conference

This usually happens around the last week of August into September, and is held sometimes in San Antonio as this year was or Las Vegas as next year is and the following year it is held in California. This conference is held to buy the store managers loyalty for the next year or so and make them actually believe what they are doing is actually in their best interests when its not, its just in the companies best interest to create a team of drones, so they in turn go back to their stores and turn their staff into drones for the holidays. Now this conference is also an excuse for store managers and some DM’s to go crazy and wild. There was a time where no one was allowed to leave the hotel because of things that happened in the past, and Loss Prevention was always on the look out for trouble, but it never fails some store managers get fired everyday for doing stupid stuff. I’ve heard stories of store managers and District Managers getting drunk and doing stupid things, and one year a Store Manager called a hooker up to his room and refused to pay her, so he got fired for his stupidity. I’ve heard other stories where a DM got it on with one of her store managers, and they both got fired. One year in Vegas a drunk store manager was humping a dead cat in the middle of the street. Now the Store Managers have a free reign as long as nothing is heard from and no trouble is caused by it. The store managers also receive many vendor gifts to buy their loyalty as well like a year membership to xbox live, games, games when they come out, accessories etc…Also this is when the Gamestop big wigs try to talk the store managers to get as many reserves on some titles as possible, like the 2 million reserve mark they wanted to get on Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 3. They give you bonus incentives if you achieve the goal and extended goal, a free copy of the game, a year subscription to the COD Online pass..etc… This in turn make the store managers hungry and thus you are forced to hear the reserve line over and over again when you visit the stores.
